Mountain Biking - Post pics of your rigid hardtail

Would like to see some of your fully rigid (steel) hardtail. I know alot of you run suspension on your hardtail, but there must be some old schoolers out there that run rigid fork on their geared mt bike.
If so would love to see some pics

I am trying to post a pic but the size constraints on this forum are ridiculous, I cant even compress it enough, will have to put my camera on a lower setting. Anyway full rigid is the way to go, no need for suspension unless downhilling or freeriding.

I like my 1997 Raleigh M-40 which is rigid. I suppose suspension is nice if you want to go fast on rough trails (racing) but I don't do that kind of thing. I don't mind taking my time while riding. It lets me enjoy being outside and concentrating on my riding.

I have pictures of my cassette on the bike, but I realized I don't have any of the whole bike! Oh well, its as close as we're gonna get.

On that note, I really don't mind having a 7-speed cassette. 21 speeds is plenty for me :D

I also like quill stems and threaded headsets. They give better adjustability. I like older mountain bikes.

Hardtail implies front suspension, so you can just ask for rigid bikes.

I know it is not the best fork but it is WAAAY better than the Manipoo Six it came with. I wish I could afford a better fork... donations are welcomed.

Actually, I was referring to the fact that it's a suspension fork. This thread is for hardtails with rigid forks. Don't worry about it, though. You're not the first to make this mistake, and you won't be the last.:beer:

BIKE CAME WITH IRC NOTOS, SUCKED (WORE OUT QUICK AND NOT VERY AGGRESSIVE) THEN BOUGHT WTB WEIRWOLVES 2.1, GREAT ALL AROUND TIRE BUT THOUGHT THEY WERE LACKING IN TERMS OF WET TRACTION. DECIDED TO GIVE THE NEVEGAL A TRY IN 1.95 WITH THE STICK-E COMPOUND, OR WHATEVER IT IS. EITHER WAY IT WORKS! COULD NOT BELIEVE THE TRACTION IN WET WEATHER. HOOKS UP ON WET ROCKS, WET ROOTS ETC. HANDLES SAND GREAT AND EVERYTHING ELSE. PLUS BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY SOFT AND CONFORMING TIRE I AM ABLE TO RUN IT ON TRAILS AT 65PSI AND IM LIGHTWEIGHT ABOUT 155 LBS. AT 60-65 PSI THESE TIRES FEEL LIKE OTHERS AT AROUND 45 PSI, THEY DONT BOUNCE YOU AROUND MUCH. CONSEQUENTLY YOU CAN RIDE REAL FAST AND SMOOTH.

Man I nearly forgot my wifes bike! Its an early '90's bianchi, mostly original, upgraded with my old dia compe 986 canti's, and its in road commute mode so she can ride to work. Steel, gears, rigid.

I just finished building this up and am planing on taking it for it's maiden voyage this weekend. Riding to the trails will certainly be easier. Even though it is not steel and is all aluminum I thought I post a pic.

It is a 1997 Trek 8000SX with a Cannondale P-Bone fork.

I have to ask, just because of the name of the thread. Does anyone ride a rigid WITH rear suspension? I want a pic of that :)

It's all I had laying around.

It gets the job done. I'm debating whether or not it's worth putting money into or just get a new bike, which I don't want to do because I would be forced into buying a suspension fork (with my budget a ****ty one) and then having to buy a rigid fork because I personally like rigid. I've been on some pretty aggressive trails and havn't had a problem with it, which is surprising sicne it's a mid 90's low end Raleigh (M20).

All the components are stock by the way and the only thing that seems to be on the way out, right now, is the BB.
