Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi guys I just got it , is it realy going to feel better......lol, also ordered a new bike today the Rocky mountain SHERPA any thoughts on this bike ? do you have it? www.bikes.com/bikes/2006/touring/index.aspx. I had to get this and not the trek 520 because my LBS gave me a good deal on it and I do like the shifters better.

I have no idea about the bike, but the brooks will hurt until you break it in for a few weeks. I used baseball glove oil.

It seems that it's uncomfortable at the beginning of the ride but gets better later in the ride - just the opposite of other saddles. Last Sunday I did 45 miles on it. At mile 40 I was taking a break and noticed the beginnings of indents from my sit bones! Lookin – good!
The Sherpa is an awesome bike. Hand built frame and wheels. You made a great choice.

mine didn't really hurt at all, but a lot of folks say what you're sayin'. i have a little over a thousand miles on mine now and i love it like a son. most comfortable now. just ride that rascal and proofride it occasionally and you're all set.:)
i just got a new brooks, and it hurts still a little but it's getting better fast. the first time i rode on it it was so uncomfortable that i was convinced i was one of the few for whom brooks saddles just don't work. now, i can see how in a couple hundred miles it will be my favorite.

The first time I rode on mine I had to stop and think about the seat. I'd gone from 30psi mountain bike tires to 65psi slicks, and my hands were feeling the road and I didn't even notice the seat.

I know now that I made the right choice, I love the bike and the B-17 too. I biked to work twice (22 Km each way) , it feels great getting ready for my first tour, thanks Jay.
