Training & Nutrition - Bike legs = Waterski legs ?????????
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sorry if this is too off topic and out of line. Mods feel free to delete it if it is. :p
Any water skiiers on here? :)
Just bought me a ski boat so I'll be doing a lot of waterskiing next summer. Mostly into slalom skiing. I'm planning on hitting the cycle trainer hard all winter and I was just wondering if you all think the cycle training will help me with the water skiing too? Same muscles? Just curious to see if there are other skiiers in here that are bikers too.

Not much of a skier... just a wannabe when I can hook up with a friend that has a boat. I think bicycling helps develop the strength that's useful for slaloming. Especially the back leg.
Have fun with the boat (like you need to be told ;))!
I've been water skiing now for almost 30 years, (slalom & bare foot) and would have to say that the cycling is much more beneficial to my slalom skiing (Greater endurance) than the other way around. If I get up early and ski, I'm pretty well shot as far as a quality ride is concerned. Enjoy the new boat!!!

Thanks guys! Cipher, I learned to "foot" too back in the late 80's but have not done it for quite a while. Never was real good at it but I did finally master deepwater starts. I might try it again this summer just to see if I still can. What I really want to get is an Air Chair(hydrofoil). They were just coming out back when we got rid of our last boat. Hopefully I can afford to get one or at least find a place that rents them this summer. They look like a blast. Bikin' and boatin'.....sounds like a fun summer!! :D
