State Police Memorial Metric Century on Saturday, April 29, 2006

Because of the success of the 2005 State Police Metric Century Celebration (Bicycle) Ride, and as many riders requested we conduct the event every year, we have decided to hold a Ride in 2006. Therefore, we will proudly present the State Police Memorial Metric Century (Bicycle) Ride on Saturday, April 29, 2006. This year's ride will support the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational and Memorial Center.
This distinctive bicycling event again begins and ends at the Hershey Park Complex in Hershey, PA, and will tour the picturesque Hershey area and the pastoral Lebanon Valley of Pennsylvania, including Mt. Gretna, and Ft. Indiantown Gap. It offers three routes to choose from: the Ft. Indiantown Gap Half-Metric Century (31 miles) Route; the Mt. Gretna Half-Metric Century (31 miles) Route or an Optional Ride - The Quarter-Metric Century (15 miles) route. Combine the Ft. Indiantown Gap Route and the Mt. Gretna Route and enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of finishing a complete metric century of 100 kilometers.
This event is open to the general public, and all bicycle riders are welcome. All participants must wear helmets, and the ride will be held "Rain or Shine." It is a "show and go" start and riders may start as early as 9 a.m., but not later than noon, and are free to ride at their own pace.

The registration fee is $20 per rider if received by April 1, 2006, and $25 per rider after that. The registration fee includes Food, Support, a Commemorative T-Shirt, and additional festivities. Riders are encouraged to register online with Active.com - www.active.com. Sign up online for this year's event and we will pay half of your online registration fees. Riders can also register by mail, or register the day of the event beginning at 8:00 a.m.

There will be plenty of free parking at the Hershey Park Complex located just west of the State Police Academy entrance near the corner of HersheyPark Drive and Sand Beach Road. Visit out web site for directions.

There will be rest stops approximately every 10-15 miles, where there will be support staff, food, water and bathroom facilities available. The start/finish area will also serve as an additional rest area.

You must make your own arrangements for lodging. The cost of lodging is not included in the registration fees. Visit our web site for additional information on accommodations.

Proceeds from this Ride go to support the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational & Memorial Center, a non-profit organization committed to the preservation of the history of the Pennsylvania State Police from 1905 to present. Please visit the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational and Memorial web site. They are dedicated to preserving the rich history, culture and heritage of the Pennsylvania State Police...
