They ought to give away maintenance manuals with the Walmart bikes, so purchasers can get them into ridable condition. But with a bit of work they can provide loads of fun. Good luck.

Welcome, and congratulations on starting a great hobby. Ride with your family--everyone will have fun (that is unless, of course, you need to occassionaly have some alone-time. The bike is great for that, too)

Hey how tall are you? I live in MD, Parkville, and I have a nice older lugged trek frame & fork I bought in WI (home of trek) at a sherrif's auction that's too large for me. It was for a friend who promptly got hit by a car and then moved to Minneapolis before I got a chance to get it to him. You can email me at jwilly@comcast.net for direct talk if you're intererested.

Otherwise, good luck.
