Can anyone help me? The company has gone out of business (I believe) and none of the LBS's can do a damn thing for me. Is anyone familiar with the Nuke Proof Bombshell Carbon Hubs? I guess the freehub is a custom made gadget. HHEEEELLPPP!?

Thanks,

Hawk

Sorry man, join the club. I suppose there is a solution out there somewhere but I got tired of looking. If it's any indicator of the inherent problems these hubs have, I traded a mechanic friend of mine a broken Klein frame for a set of hubs. I reasoned they were a light set of disposable race hubs - this proved correct.

Finding any thing for N.P. is a pain in the a**. They made a sweet head set I wanted to buy but could not find any info on where to get one.
N.P. made good components. Sucks that they are gone now.

The freehub mechanism itself is Shimano. The trick is that nukeproof used LX, XT and XTR freehubs at different times and they aren't interchangeable. My LBS replaced an XTR with an XT and it sorta worked but not well. If you can find out which freehub mechanism you have just replace it. My Nukeproof rear hub has lasted 7 years but I think I'll retire it. The front didn't delaminate as many did, but the flange cracked.

What exactly is the problem with it?

Thanks 80's guy. That's the most promising bit of information I've gotten yet. If I were to post a picture of the freehub, would someone be able to recognized which one it is??? My LBS told me that the freehub was custom by NP, but I suspect that they are full of ****! The problem with it is: the whole freehub assembly rocks slightly (perpendicular to its axis) and when the cassette is mounted, the effect is amplified. I can grab my cassette and rock it back and forth maybe 3/16 of an inch as measured from the biggest cog. And, now that it's sloppy it's been getting worse! I need to rebuild it, repack the bearings with fresh grease, and clean and relube the pawl. I just need to figure out how to get it off... It's got 3 notches (for a tool) at the base of the freehub (near the hub and spokes) and on the outside of the freehub (where the axle comes out of the driveside) there is an "O" ring separating the freehub shell from the cartridge bearing of the hub itself.

whew... sounds complicated don't it? :p

Any and All Help is MUCH appreciated!

Thanks to All,

Mike

Well the freehub will come off with a 10mm allen wrench. Remove the o ring. It will eventually break and cause the freehub to stop moving. It sounds like it may have loosend up.

There's no way a 10mm allen is gonna fit in the space where the "O" ring is. Is that what you meant? And, the "O" ring is in mint condition, perfect seal. I thing I need a tool to fit the 3 notches...

Did not say it would. I said the freehub comes off with a 10 mm allen wrench.

If its actually a shimano hub, I had one that had the wobbly cassette syndrome caused by a sloppy hub body.Removed it, and there was a shim pack that when several shims were removed and everything put back together took the slop out of the hub body.

Hunter,

Where in the Hell did you find that link? You Rock Man! I'm gonna go for it as soon as I have a chance...

(also, If I find any shims packed in there, I'll be thanking Pokey too)

Thank You!

Mike
