Touring - colorado springs suggestions

I'll be in Colorado Springs for about 2 weeks in May and was looking for camping suggestions. Most of the places I've found on the web are RV campsites next to the highway, and way over priced.
Any ideas? I would usually just wing it when I arrive, but I thought I would get a jump on this because of the long stay.

What do you plan on doing? There are lots of campsites in the Pike National Forest around CO Springs but most of them are several miles away. Do you need to be in town?

The campground at Rampart Range Resevoir is nice, but no showers. There is a KOA campground in Woodland Park that has very nice tent camping area, showers, laundry etc. It's on the north side of town.

I was going to suggest that one too but Marcusbandito seemed to be turned off by RV campgrounds. The KOA in Manitou isn't that bad either. Been a while since I was there but they had a pretty good tent ghetto.

I'm going to be there to attend the Barnett Bike institute. So I guess it would be nice to be in that vicinity. I'm planning on living by bike while I'm there but I don't mind a longer ride to get there and back.

My only objection to camping with RVs is when I get sandwiched between two campers that have generators running all night and the TV's turned up loud. That always ruins the experience for me.

When I tour I usually kind on wing it each night, but since I have to spend 2 weeks there I thought it good to have a plan.

The KOA I was thinking of isn't a KOA anymore. You might try this campground (http://www.coloradocampground.com/index.cfm). It's along Fountain Creek in Manitou Springs. There aren't any major road really near by (US 24 is across the creek and about 100 yards away). Manitou is a bit funkier than CO Springs too.

There really isn't a lot to choose from here in the springs. Your best bet for camping will likely be the one indicated in the post above, Garden Of The Gods campground. I stayed there once years ago and it was ok. It's in town and has nice facilities.

I cant remember exact prices, but do remember that a cheap hotel would have been about the same or less.
