I have been replacing my brake and shifter cables and housings on a pair of Downtubes to prepare the bikes for saltwater exposure. One thing I found is that standard precut cable sets are too short for these folders (maybe others too). The cable that comes with the SRAM gripshift is also too short. The reason is the tall upright steering tubes add about a foot to the total run. Even thought the bikes look small, they require
longer runs of housing than a full size 26" bike. After wasting a little extra money on Jagwire sets that did not have enough housing to do an entire bike , I switched to buying cut to length cable and housing from Harris Cyclery for quite a bit less than the precut kits cost. The cables they sell for recumbents and tandems
are long enough for the DTs.

It seems that Harris is the only one I could find that would sell you the exact lengths you need, cut to order.
And they give you a the ferrules and end crimps free. However you have to take the housing they offer, picking only the color. The housing I got was nice lined housing and the cables were Jagwire stainless.
I believe the housing is Quality brand. If you have enough bikes to do, the Icycle or eBay buys on
25 foot lengths of Jagwire/Avid/Shimano housing are the way to go. Somehow buying from Harris
seems most local, like a real bike shop. They are extremely responsive via email.
