I have a Friday and am looking for a wireless bike computer. I know there can be issues with wireless reception and folders because of the distance from the handlebars to the fork.

I use the wired FlightDeck on my other cycles and wonder if the wireless will work on the Friday.

Anyone use a wireless Flightdeck on a folder? does it consistanly work OK?

Anyone use other wireless models or brands that work OK?

Thanks

Bike Friday also sells this special mount which lets you put a wireless computer lower: http://store.bikefriday.com/product_info.php?cPath=17&products_id=8170

I've got my Cateye cordless 7 mounted on one of these on my Crusoe. Actually, it might work okay on the bars, too, but this leaves a little extra room for mounting other things on them.

My used Bike Friday came with one of thoes little mounts. I took it off and zip tied the computer to the bar. It is an older Cat Eye, and it works fine.

I use a Trek 8i on my Downtube, and haven't had any problems at all.

Thanks to all for your advice. I've got a lead on a VDO wireless so I think I'll give it a try. Sounds like most of you havenot had a reception problem so hopefully I will not either.

I just spent ordered two VDOs for our NWTs. I sure hope they work on the bar but if not I plan to move them down on the stem. I've heard good things about VDO so I wanted to try them out. One C3DS wireless and one MC1.0+ wireless are heading my way. They'll get a good workout in the Swiss Alps this June and I'll report back.

Cheers,

I use the YPK and it works well. Big numbers and displays about 6 functions at the same time.

Hi Miles2go,

I did get the VDO, MC1.0 and it does not operate consistantly from the handles bars. I measured the distance and it is right at 23 inches, which is the max for good reception. I moved it down on the stem using a little "do hicky" I made and it now works fine.

Maybe yours will work from the handlebars. Will be interested in hearing if it does.
