General Cycling Discussion - I guess it must really be winter...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Winter sucks :( Even with riding on the roller daily I've gained weight from not being outside and having that residence of the hills and what not... :(

well, winter finally arrived in Munich this week as it's barely been above freezing (0C or 32F) all week.
getting dressed before my commute and when i get to the office takes SO much longer.
but i'm still riding. i've ridden almost 100km since Monday.
a friend of mine is going to loan me his rollers as he doesn't use them. have to pick them up and give it a try. with winter commuting and rollers i could almost maintain my summer level (ok, not as many hills/climbing)

What??? Ron, you gotta work harder on the tan lines of yours. Mine last all the way through the winter! :D Seriously.
Screw the bike for the winter! Go snowshoeing, skiiing, skating, give 'erselves a break!
Honestly, come October I can't wait for winter!

hmmm... i just checked and mine on my arms are pretty much gone too. i had major tan lines on my arms from my bike jersey. i think my legs still show some lines, but i'm in the office so i can't check right now...
i'm sure mine don't last through the winter as from September through April i don't wear short stuff much at all on the bike... (OK, on climbs but that's maybe an hour or 2 on a big day)

Oh yeah, I don't either. I was just saying that they're dark enough (or I have skin that likes to stay dark where it's tanned) that they stay that way until the spring.

Well as I recall we had a lot of crappy (translation = cloudy) days this summer and early fall.
Last year (2001) we had many more sunny days and my tan lines lasted almost all winter. :)

Alright Ron, I guess that excuse will have to do. ;) :)
Winter is often the best time for adventure rides.
Studded tires help.

cool shot MB1.
it's been below freezing for over a week in Munich, but we've had no real snow :( we had a slight dusting this morning - enough that the bike leaves tracks, but not much more.
i really hope we get some snow before the holidays! plus the mountains are hurting for snow for skiing!
MB1 -
Just out of curiosity, is that out on Hains Point in DC?

Close, it is on Ohio Drive in front of FDR along the Potomac.
