This morning, I woke up with a nose full of pollen, a sore back, and very, very tired. :(

I told my wife I wanted a ride to the train station. That's unusual for me.

I took my time getting ready since I figured I'd be getting a lift. As I pulled my laundry out of the drier, I punched the "on" button for my weather-band radio. "...Friday morning--a chance of thundershowers. Friday afternoon--thunderstorms likely..." Dang. That's tomorrow, I thought I had clear weather until Saturday.

Today was the last dry commuting day of the week. So off I went, into the shower and rushing like mad to get ready to ride my bike to work. Out the door with my bike almost 10 minutes behind schedule.

"Relax," I told myself as I settled into a fast spin. I pedal better if I relax a bit. My strategy was to hit the hills spinning as fast as possible and pace myself on the downhills and flats. Somehow, all my aches, pains, and bad feelings disappeared before I hit the top of the first hill.

About an hour later, after miles of maximum effort, I was now only a few minutes from work. "Wonder what time it is," I thought as I waited at a red light. It was only 6:54 am! I am exactly on time! I rolled into work at exactly 7:00 am., five minutes ahead of my greatest expectations!

Funny how on some days when I feel the worst, I end up feeling the best!

Nice!

I find that when I'm feeling crappy I'm often able to channel some of that negative energy into putting in a good ride. 99% of the time, no matter what the weather I feel better when I end by ride than when I start.

I wasn't feeling to great this morning. Felt like a cold or something coming on. Hopped on my bike, started to feel good again. Got to work, still felt pretty good. Hour later, feelt like I was fighting off some bug.

Exercise definitely helps me feel better, but I don't think just riding will help me now... Maybe I'll get over it by tomorrow. I can feel my body fighting it now. If only that blasted AC here at work would stop blowing on my head all day...

I thougth I was alone on how a bike can "cure" the woes sometimes. If I have a minor hangover, I'll jump on the bike.

Thanks to a stomach virus going around, I finally had to take a sick day. First one in like 10 months.

I thought for sure the title of this thread meant it was "time for shaving" not "shaving seconds/minutes off your commute". ;).

in the three or four weeks I've been riding, I have noticed that the days I ride I feel better, am in a better mood and have more energy than the days I don't ride.

I usually feel better when riding. However, I am wondering what my first allergy attack will do to me.
Does cycling actually help horrible allergy problems? My first attack of the season is worse than a bad cold. Usually knocks me out of things for a week.

If you ride really hard you'll be too exhausted to feel allergies.
