Bicycle Mechanics - New to road bikes need help
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ok Well I bought a bike today, and took it for a spin but i shifted all the way down but could'nt figure how to up ****. they are shimano sora flight deck triple. I tried everything. There are only two little levers on each side of the handle bars by the breaks that go in one dirrection only. I need some help.
push the brake lever sideways (towards the center line of the bike) to shift one way, the thumb tabs down for the other.

Those little buttons shift the chain onto smaller cogs. To shift on to bigger cogs you push the brake lever sideways in towards the centre of the bike. When on the small chain ring at the front there is a trim function where you can move the derailler cage a bit with a half movement of the lever to stop the chain rubbing against the outide of the front der. A full swing of the brake lever will move it up onto the middle chainring. You can get a better explanation if you go to the Shimano website and search for Sora illustrations. http://bike.shimano.com/media/cycling/techdocs/en/bikecomponents/ST/SI-6JR0A_v1_m56577569830538833.pdf

Did you buy it from a bike shop? If they let you out of there without showing you that, it is one crappy bike shop.
