I was riding home last night, and was watching this car approaching from an off-ramp. Unmistakeable sound of a ricer muffler and he was trying to decide if he could beat me to the merge. I pointed directly at him (I had right of way, he had a yield sign) and he backed off. He merged behind me, and when things cleared up, passed me. I was looking at his plate when he went by:
JOES FCS
and I started laughing so hard that I almost fell off the bike. Then I realized what he was driving, a Ford Focus. :D
And I have another:
MILF
 I kid you not. Driven by a female. Who else has seen outrageous plates that the DMV was surely stupid enough to approve?
I saw "PWNED" here in Ann Arbor one summer day. Screwed onto the back of a British Racing Green Mazda Miata. This was back in 2003, when the term was just coming into full usage.

I saw "L33tHXR"... Turns out it was a coworker   .
I also saw "H8CATS". Kinda makes you wonder why the person is so bitter they want to put that on their license plate. I mean, it's not like the cats can read it. They just felt like sharing it with the world I guess.

I'm not getting this one. :o I've had a bad day, will someone take pity on me?
I feel like the guy at the party who doesn't get the joke while everyone else is laughing.

My favorite one in the last few years was on the new Illinois plates, which have an image of Abraham Lincoln in the middle of the plate. The plate was:
ABES F8
Pretty funny.

A little ricer car that had "KOOL OO". I think he might have been going for something else, but if you say it all together, then its pretty darn close to a spanish slang term for a**.
All time favorite wasn't even a vanity plate. An exgirlfriend and many other Texans had plates that started with "STD".
Virginia has a lot of vanity plates. I was up there a for a few days back in January. We change the game from figure out the vanity plate, to who has a regular plate.

When I was in high school, there was this loser who had ILUVWMN on his pinky/purply late eighties mustang. I say loser, although he probably thought he was the ****e. I dunno if the WMN did.

Today I saw a new Cadillac with some old geezer in it with the plate that said....."NOTPOOR". I thought to myself that this guy really has an ego problem. His head was bigger than the hood ornament.

You reminded me of a car (Pontiac Sunfire) in our apartment complex which has one of those, oh so tasteful, Playboy bunny stickers in the window, which is driven by a girl, presumably with the name on her license plate: TAWNEE.

Just today I saw "COCKERZ" on a Dodge Durango driven by a mom with 3 kids in the car. Thankfully, they also had a license plate frame that said something about American Cocker Spaniels being the best or something. I was REALLY confused at first.

My favorite was the plate on the annoying guy's ferrari in "Better Off Dead"...
CUL8TR
Worst: Toyota Land Cruiser with "MOMTANK" parked very poorly and taking up two spaces.
Best: Some Infiniti coupe with "PLUSONE" (no it has nothing to do with the lame Slashdot scoring crap).

Funny, but one letter longer than any plate I've ever seen.
My car once said RICECKR... as in Rice Cooker...
Lets just say I beat up on the local rice boys once in a while...
My current plates say MY58VW
I saw LSUSUCK on a students licence plate once  - a LSU student!

I love how people try to find the meaning behind someone's vanity plate, it always ends up being 'that guys just an idiot' or 'his ego is too big'

A female friend has "LHOOQ" Say each letter out loud in French and you will understand what it means.
My brother had XCDVNE on his Dodge Viper.
There was an old thread on this topic, so at the risk of repeating myself...
Vne is an aviation term meaning Velocity Never Exceed, or the speed at which structural damage may occur to the plane (for example, the wings ripping off...). Thus, XCDVNE = Exceed Vne. Thought that was a pretty good one, though most people wouldn't get it by looking at it.

Yeah. that's a pretty obsecure one. but it's a good one because anybody with half a brain would realize that it wasn't a normal plate. and then they'd have to go searching for it. hehehe

I woman where I work has a Mercedes that reads "HEDIED" or something very similar. I assume she bought the car with the insurance money.
Okay... it's not a vanity plate but it's certainly ironic...

I saw a plate on a Cadilac that said "DAM". Some cool ones I have seen include "RPG7", "MATRIX" and "M1911A1".
Edit: I just remembered a Ferrari 308 (I think it was a 308) which has a plate that says "TOOFUN"
