I would like to add a kickstand to my new Downtube FS. My goal is to make a bracket that is very light weight and does not require modifying the bike. I have some pretty good people in our machine shop and I think it can be done. I will post my results when completed.

I saw an adpater by Burley and some items on one of the recumbent sites that may work with bikes that have no chain stay. Please let me know what you find as I am in the same boat. If you search
earlier threads on kickstands I have a link to the premade adapters.
Do the axle kickstands (Made by Wahl) only fit on axles with out a QR?
I will have this project done in a few days. I purchased a standard Greenfield kickstand and will use some aluminium stock that will have two grooves machined in it and sit straight down under the seat. one plate on top and another thicker piece underneath. Each with one hole in them. A bolt will run down thru the top plate, thru the bottom plate and into the kickstand underneath. When I tighten the bolt it will clamp down the plates and kickstand and that should do it.
I will make a few extras if it works as there seems to be others looking for something that will work.

No problem, probably Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully the kickstand will be long enough. It looks like it will work. One way or another I will get a kickstand on the bike, it is just a matter of when.
