-I am not satisfied with cleaning my chain on my bike, so I want to install an IRD snap-link on my Shimano 10 spd HG chain.

-I don't want to buy a chain tool to just push the two pins out that will go in the trash.
Since two pins and two outer plates are replaced by the IRD parts, can't I just:
1. cut the chain with a dremel thru the two outer plates that will be replaced
2. dremel off the flanged heads off of the pins on one side of the chain
3. snug the chain in a vise and tap the pins out
Does this sound like a good plan or do you see something I don't? I don't want to be stuck without a chain!
