I was in Culver City yesterday for a soccer tournament and right behind the fields the soccer matches were on was a bikepath, paved. I was told it was the one along Ballona Creek/wash/river.

Where does this Ballona path run to/from? And is the pronunciation spanish, like ba-yon-a or with the full "Ls" as bal-lon-a?

There sure were alot of cyclists there yesterday. I saw cruisers, mountain-style bikes, an up right, mountain style tandem, an upright recumbent style tandem, a slung-low recumbant style tandem, a tadpole trike, box store bikes. . . there were alot of people out riding.

I kept kicking myself, because I had almost loaded my bike and gear in the bus the night before so I could get a little riding in while my husband refereed, but I didn't. Dang! And today at our house it is freakin' cold --at least for southern California in April.

It runs to the ocean, then continues down along the coastline all the way down to Palos Verdes where it ends.

Well it does join the Coast bike path at the Coast Guard Station in Marina Del Rey. From there you can go south almost to PV and north to the Life Guard station used in BayWatch. It is common to fight a headwind going to the coast or get blown inland on the way back.

It's like that out here, NE of Pomona, in Rancho Cucamonga.

What's really fun is sometimes when you ride east of here towards the I15 you get a head wind going east (Santa Ana winds out of the mountain pass) and head winds going back (from the greater LA area).

Oh yes. I have ridden out that way too. As posted elsewhere the ride down San Gorgonio Pass towards Palm Springs is a screamer.
