Maybe it has something to do with Lampre being a steel manufacturer :)
I can not fathom the Paris-Roubaix on an aluminum rig LOL....
I use my Kona Jake The Snake as a Road bike in the summer months...Slap on a set of Mavic K's and away I go...

Many of the bikes at Paris-Roubaix are "custom" bikes, designed to look like the sponsor's regular bike, but substituting steel parts, stronger forks, stems, bars, and rims. Hincapie was injured yesterday, and it may be a serious injury. His stem failed after his first crash, causing a second, more serious crash.
Bike companies have substituted carbon and aluminum for steel in the on-going quest of "lighter, lighter, lighter". And, we now have bikes that can't survive one hard day of riding. Pathetic and sad.
did you notice that Ballan's bike had tied and soldered 3x 32 hole wheels?
classic.

I put another 35 miles / 55 km on the 1959 Capo this weekend. It will be interesting to see how many of today's aluminum and carbon fiber racing frames survive 47 years of use.
At the rate that I'm riding my newest aluminum bike up here, it'll last until the third millenium. At least it won't rust in all that rain...
