Any recs on a reliable 20-inch 451 tire for touring? Kenda Kwest and Primo Comet are all I know about and that only through the Bike Friday website.

Hostel Shoppe and Calhoun Cycle have Stelvios and an IRC tire in that size, but you're right - pretty slim pickings.

BikePartsUSA seems to have slightly more choices, but most come with low psi ratings.

The Primo Comet is a bullet proof tire. They are very pucture proof and have a high PSI. They come in both 1 1/8 and 1 3/8 widths. They are also cheap. I'm getting about 2,000 miles to a set. I have these tires on three 451 size wheeled bikes. Stelvios are very fast wearing in my opinion. I much prefer the Comets..

I keep hearing about the slim pickings for 451 size tires... I've never had any problems with tire choice or availibility..

When I was running 406's on my Bike Friday, I still had to order online since most of the LBS's only carried 2" wide low pressure BMX tires...

I guess I'm one of the few fans of 451 size wheels......

Yeah, I just don't understand the aversion to 451's. I mean how hard is it to order a couple of spares before you need them?

I was under the impression that 451s are primarily used for racing, but don't doubt people are touring on them nowadays.

Slim pickings in a comparative sense, as in compared to 406s, they don't have nearly as many styles or sizes.
