tightening down my sugino bolts, I stripped one...

Is it just spinning in place?
Because that doesnt mean it's stripped, that just happens when you dont secure the back when tightening.

I've never stripped a chainring bolt per se, but I'm sure it can be done - I seem to have stripped every other goddamn bolt on a bike at one time or another. It stinks being so stupi-- er, I mean strong.

Never stripped a chainring bolt. I think it would round out before I could strip the threads.

i have stripped a few sugino bolts. I have had better luck with campy and dura ace ones but i still have one that never wants to stay tight. seems like everyride iam tightening that d**n thing up again. Loctite seems to have little effect

and yes if it is spinning and you cannot get enough grip on the back you will have to drill that ish out.

I have only had problems with the cheap bmx chainring bolts-like rounding them off where the allen wrench goes or even tightening them down so much that the female part breaks in half or cracks. Once I switched to steel, I have not had anymore of these problems.

Slightly similar problem, mine seem to have rusted in a slightly loose state. It's annoying and is responsible for a creak. I'm assuming I'll have to drill them out. I don't really want to do that though. Any other ideas? Or is that my only bet?

Penetrating oil, trying over and over and over again, and eventually settling for the drill if needed. I thought all 5 of mine were stuck but only ended up drilling 3 of them.

stripped/rounded out one of my sugino bolts. first time i've ever done that too. they're all tight so i'm holding off on the drilling for now.
