I am planning on installing an 11-32 9 spd cassette on a ultegra freehub (circa 2002). I saw some stuff on Sheldon Brown site about having to place a spacer behind the cassestte. Have any of you done used this type of set-up, and what was your experience?

thanks

If the hub is 9 speed the 11-32 will fit. You'll need a mountain bike rear derailleur to have it work properly, though.

I am running this same set up 36 hole Ultegra hubs spaced for 135 - 11-32 cassette running with a XT rear and a Ultrgra triple front - no problem works fine
