They actually make a $15 frame look nice.

pink phils and pink deep v's don't belong together. that said, that bike actually does look nice.
I love my Phil hubs, but how can you live with locking up a $500 wheelset on a $15 frame and being away from it for any length of time?

I'm sorry, but I disagree. It's like a bum wearing a top hat- I still know he's a bum. Nice hubs, though.
man whatevers on the wheel set....i just wanna know....i just wanna know this....if you can afford a nice set of wheels why not get a nice saddle instead of bling rims? since when have i had hard cravings for bubble gum ice cream?
edit: where the hell are you toe straps? clipless what?!
+1
Super clashing.
On a black or white frame it would be almost okay, but with the red it's just....

At least, he has a great cornerstone for a bombproof bike in the future.

How about spending money on a decent frame instead of super high end hubs?

time for a new frame!!! i got to a point where i had about $400 worth of parts on a $15 frame and i felt like the guys rolling around with 20" spinners on an 85 buick.
I can think of quite a few other things I'd upgrade on that bike before I got to the saddle.
That said, I guess he/she has a great cornerstone for a bombproof bike in the future.
ya, hear that. hey did you know that one of the largest buyers of viagra are cyclist? just some food stuff for thought stuff yanno?

Haha.
Is that directed specificly at me?
What have you heard?!

i'm thinking a good wheelset as the first purchase is not a bad way to go; it takes a while to find the right frame (unless you're going production), and in the meantime at least you can ride, and if you're not racing (or ocd ;)) the frame doesn't matter THAT much...
all that aside, i'm not a fan of the phil pink/velocity pink combo myself, but that doesn't affect how they roll.
Haha.

nah not at you man. im just sayin' that i like the idea of having kids and if spending a lil more money on a seat to keep my eggs and rig functioning in the long run. nobody likes over cooked noodles.

Ah, I understand now.
I didn't realize what that was in reference to.

I think the pink on pink looks nice. It clashes with the frame, but who cares?

dolface is right. Great wheels will make even a ****ty frame feel great.

is it weird that the first thing I noticed was the purple rain stupor bowl 9 spoke card? Agree that the hub / rim combo is not close enough, but still hot none the less, I have that set up in all black and it is one da*n fine set of wheels

And the MMI5 card.
Wait, I know this guy.
Oh, right...oops.
OK dudes. Here's the justification. My first priority is to drop the $$ into the moving parts. (This bike will have a phil BB in a couple of days). I'd much rather have high end wheels and BB on a **** frame than the other way around.
As far as the frame, I'm moving to Japan in a few months. Rather than taking an entire bike, I'll just take the wheels and BB and buy a frame and the rest of the stuff once I'm there. So many options for so much cheaper! :) I'm a bit worried about sizing, but with 120mm hubs and 113BB, these are hopefully somewhat standard? Maybe? If not, I guess I'll just toss the wheels and BB in the trash.
Toestraps? What are those?
Children? What are those?
Red - Magenta - Pink makes a nice progression. I was pleasantly suprised how well they work. (Maybe the photo doesn't do justice)

Can I worry less if they're locked to a $500 frame?
I worry to some extent, but it's covered under renters insurance.

i like the wheels - pink & pink looks good.
you're smart on upgrading the wheels first.

hey, just a thought..the phil bb is really amazing, but alot of the time when you get a frame there is a bb in it (and in japan a high quality one)......maybe get crank arms first? if you get the phil bb get a 108mm, it works better with track crank arms that you will probably one day have (they should probably be bought at the same time)
