Anyone here had the surgery?
And if so howlong before you could ride again? This is driving me nuts. Off work for a month and supposed o hit 70 this week everyday and I can't get on the damn bike.
No, I have not had the surgery. I installed North Road bars and the problem with riding has disappeared. Two people I know have had the operation. Both say the results are so-so at best. My doctor said success is 50-50.
My wife had it... her case was pretty severe. I don't recall exactly how long she didn't feel like riding, though she doesn't have nearly the drive to ride as many here do. Best I can offer is listen to your doc and, more importantly, to your body, and ride when you feel up to it. Start with rides that won't be jarring the wrists - paved or smooth dirt paths before you start plunging into rock gardens and stuff.
Are you having open release or the orthoscopic one?

I had the open release last THursday.
I didn't have it due to riding, I am an auto mechanic by trade and have it in b oth hands but the right was so weak I could hardly hold a wrench any longer. So alas I had to have it done. I am off of work for at least a month. At this particular moment I couldn't even fathom riding down my street. Still can't button my own pants. Definatley can't tie shoes yet. Really frustrating. 50 outside right now at 8:30 in the morning and I have to sit here and look at my baby, all lonely and wanting some smooth carressing.LOL
Time to get some other stuff done I guess.
