Hey, I am looking at getting into some trail biking (maybe casual racing in the future) but no riding with any crotch crushing drops or anything. As well some city commuting...

I am considering one bike (Rocky Mountain Vertex 10) that has 'standard' tubing size. It is supposed to be made of an Easton Aluminum frame that is quite strong (and fairly light). For my type of riding, will I regret not having a 'tapered' tube bike?

As well, I am trying to compare this bike to the Cannondale F600. In my newbie opinion, the bikes seem to match up well with respect to components and price. Any opinions on this comparison??

Thanks
