If you stick around the day after, there is a fund raiser ride for local shop mechanic and barista Mark Taylor.

I'm also considering the trip, since I might be in Philly that weekend anyway. Can anyone comment as to how much stuff there usually is? The likelyhood of finding decent frame in, say, 58cm c-c?

If anyone from Philly has a vendor booth, PM me. NBW is not going, but we have a couple things that might sell there.

There definitely is not as much stuff as the Fall swap. There is slightly more stuff than the Summer swap, however.

I'm sure I don't need anything... but if any NYers are going down and want to fill a car seat, PM me. I'm unemployed so I have no good reason not to go wandering around the east coast.
I'll be there, probably selling at least 5 bikes. All are SS or fixed except for one road bike with horizontal dropouts that would make a great fixie conversion.
Speaking of Marky Taylor, there is also going to be a table there at the flea market with proceeds to benefit the fund. See http://www.fallenriderfund.com
If anyone is making a road trip there, a tailgaiter wouldn't be a bad idea...

I went last year and had one of the best weekends ever.
I wish I still lived closer.
I didn't even know about it until after I accepted a job and was moving out here. Now they are having them 2 or 3 times per year (used to be just in the fall).
Just got my info in the mail today for sellers.
Oh, Kristy, just saw your post! How's the Mini?

Dunno. I'd go, but have no car... so.
If I can get the weekend off, I'm going. I just hope I've squirreled away enough cash to satiate my desires...

I will likely be driving. Still trying to work out details with a couple of other people, but I'm planning on driving myself.

I'm thinking of going if anyone has space for me, I'd be down to chip in for gas and whatnot.
Also, Ceya will be there selling a bunch of stuff and at least a few frames. I know he's got some goodies.

i can see why.
I mean why wait to go until its the middle of the day and totally packed?
I'm going to be getting there early as possible.
Besides i have to try and get back before my visiting non-biker friends wake up hungover in my living room to my little sister blasting rilo hkeiley or whatever
so this means u wont have to pay the $5. to get in if all the good stuff is sold early?

Check out Trans-Bridge lines.
http://www.transbridgebus.com/agents.htm
You would want the Allentown terminal on 325 W Hamilton St. Hamilton St is also known as 222, a direct line to the velodrome. It is about 9 miles from the terminal to the track. You can ride Hamilton St / 222 no problem. Just check a map because it might seem slightly weird around the intersection with Cedar Crest.

In response to the other questions - people usually form the official line between 8 and 8:30. There are actually about 4 lines, and the velodrome crew come out and sell you your admission band while you're waiting. Lots of good stuff goes early (track bikes), for sure....but there are also some great deals to be found at the end of the day when people are trying to avoid packing their unsold crap back up.

if you have wheels, i can contribute gas money and share driving if it's an automatic. i'm really serious about going early (i'd like to try to get there before 9am) - are you still thinking of going? i'm in brooklyn.

is there still anybody from nyc who has space in a car for the swap meet who wants company and gas/toll money? i'd like to get there early since that seems to be the move...
When I went last time, it was exclusively for track stuff which was generally at a premium. Had I been into road, moutain, cross, etc back then it would've been even more of a heaven. For some dumbass reason, I passed on a near complete Superbe/Record mid-90s Cannondale at 595 bux..

wonder how many dealers will be kept home by the rain, vs. how many buyers?

Anyone know the status of this? The thing I was supposed to do tomorrow was cancelled because of rain. Now I can go to the meet, I just hope its not rained out.

Nevermind.
"IMPORTANT: The Spring Swap Meet is still scheduled to open at 9:00 AM Saturday morning. Though rain is forecast, the event is held rain or shine."
I should have went right to their site...
Jesse, you mean you should have gone straight to their site.
Does anybody want to bike out with Jessefive and I? We're leaving at midnight and taking PA Route L.
there better be a "what i scored at trexlertown" thread tomorrow.

the swap meet is scheduled to open at 9 am
but from all accounts
the real action will be happening at 6 am in the parking lot
which is sort of like
frequenting a particular bordello (paying an entrance fee of some sort)
and waiting inside for the women
while they're in the parking lot
doing a whole slew of other men FOR NOTHING
they'll be here shortly
luckily, I don't frequent ***** houses (certainly not of the type described above)
and I don't need to get up at 3 am to score some deals (that I be flipping immediately) cause the meet directors could give a ****

Just got back, probably the worst t-town swap I've ever been to. Very few vendors, rained the entire time, etc... Scored a couple superbe pro cogs for cheap, and some tubes.

Worst Swap Ever!
What happened? Did people find out about eBay?
1-2" of rain, 10-15mph sustained winds, 40 degrees.
Yeah, it sucked. Sold a few things, met a few people, holding out til the next swap though. Blegh. Abouth 1/4 of the normal amount of vendors.

I think today was mostly just the rain, and the spring swap has never as big as the one in the fall.
But I think it's definitely gone downhill the past couple years due to ebay. You don't find such great deals anymore because everyone knows what there stuff's worth, and that someone is probably willing to pay for it on ebay. As a result, not as much bargaining, not as much fun.

pretty weak showing! cold, wet, muddy.
picked up a sweet DA stem with internal binder bolt, cheap gatorskin tires, grips, tape, and a bunch of assorted tools.
ttown is a great place for tools - if it's cheap, i've taken to picking up anything i don't already own. can't beat a nice, old, heavy wrench for a couple of bucks.
i wish i could bring myself to ride tubular, there are so many high end tubie wheelsets out there for cheap.
