I was wondering if there if any websites that provides very detailed investigation and research on the effects of endurance activities on the heart and the whole cardiovascular system. Example of detailed information would be the study of athletes and time-lined effects that subjects experienced etc.

Please provide some links to the website.

I would also welcome the titles of books that have such information. Thank you.

Try a search on Yahoo. :)

Better still, try a search on Google. I had some nasty pop-up windows last time I tried to use Yahoo.

www.heartzone.com
is pretty generic, but cardio is cardio, so I believe this one will be helpful to you.

Thanks guys, still need more info. Hopefully some direct link to a website.

greg360, may I know which part of www.heartzone.com are you talking about? I'm not sure where to go in that website. Are you referring to the books they show for sale?

Sorry, scratch that site, oxologic. They've changed a lot since I last looked at them. Their section under cycling no longer has any information on cycling at all (why do they even have it?). I was very happy with them when I bought a heart rate monitor (Sports Instruments EC3 - two thumbs up!) a year ago and went looking for info on cycling and cardio training. Fughettaboutem.

Here's a better idea, www.alltheweb.com is a really good search engine that you can tweak to get referred to exactly the sites you are interested in. It's thorough and it let's you weed out extraneous sites by keywords. Very easy to use. By using 'cardiovascular' and 'cycling' as searchwords, I hit on:

http://www.svcc.org.uk/BASIC%20CARDIOVASCULAR%20PHYSIOLOGY.htm
http://www.cptips.com/exphys.htm

Both within a cupla minutes of searching. I hope this is helpful.
