...Sr., promax. or whatever other kind of hubs Suzue makes if this is true. Found it while I was perusing the veloshop blog today

it's been discussed before, and they're doing one final run of gold-anodized stuff before they shut down

The owner of the company committed suicide (Tomity posted about it a while back).

Good riddance. Jr's = grindy bearing deathtraps.
Promax = fair to middling.

I rode/messed on mine for a loooong time with no lube other than finely ground rust. No problems. Same set are still on my partner's bike, and she puts about 50-100 miles/week on them.

two years on my Suzue Basics with no problems. what, I'm not a dumbass and used a chainwhip AND and lockring tool? is that all it takes? the way some of you guys paint 'em, it's all luck or all outrage. c'mon, admit it! they were your first threaded hubs, and you screwed up.

bought a Jr as a backup rear, and it's lasted ages, on a bunch of different bikes. Lube the threads, and make sure it's all tight= No real probs.
Too bad about Suzie tho. Not in the same realm as Phil/DA/Suntour, and spendier than solid basics like IRO and the like. The middle is a bummer place to be if you want to sell stuff.

Suzue Promax NJS hubs are, for all intents and purposes, the exact same hub as Suntour Superbes.

With $5 worth of nice bearings, I doubt you'd be able to tell any difference between a suzue jr and a campy when it was on a bike.

Thats probably generally true, but I have had my surly wheel (first fg wheel) for over 2 years which I definitely abused the hell out of (no tools to speak of, cracked locknuts, etc.), which is still running great, while I had my suzue basic wheel for about 6 months of me taking care of it well with tools when I knew what I was doing and it stripped out. They are pretty much the lowest quality threads of any of the track hubs, regardless of user error.

The gold stuff is probably going to be hard to come by... when I asked the nearest EAI dealer about it they said most of the gold run has been spoken for.

Fixed?

You're doomed.

Most here have had problems. Some don't.

But, if you read the amount who have had problems (greater than 50%) versus those who don't (lesser than 50%) and you still buy them.. then you have NOTHING TO ***** ABOUT. Except your own stupidity.
