What type of fork are you running on your Kona Stuff right now? Thanks!

nope, unless you want to really screw up your geometry and possibly break your frame, dont get it
i'd suggest a fork around 120-130mm travel
something like 170mm is just way too much for that frame, its a dirtjump frame, not a downhill frame
good luck

I wouldn't recommend a Jr T on a Stuff....It can't handle it Captain!!!

I wouldn't do it. I am running 100mm on my Kona Stuff right now. And it's fine. You might have to get a new frame if you want a bigger fork.

Well you can go for it, but you (probably) will snap off your headtube in the process. It will also cancel out your warranty.

Just wondering how does a dual crown make the head tube snap more than a single crown?

Many hardtails are designed for under 130mm fork usage, by putting a taller, longer travel fork on the bike, you are increasing the pressure near/on the headtube area. Thus a greater chance of shearing the headtube off from the frame. It can also ruin a bikes geometry.
Also, dual crown put stress on the top of the head tube, whe stress is only at the bottom for single crowns. I was in the exact same position as you last year with my kona scrap. I would recomend getting a pike. Thats what I did, and it is like the perfect fork, and more adjustable than anything. you can go dual crown, but it will rake you geometry out like a mother. Kona frames are really strong, and everybody I talked to, even kona, said it would work, many people have done it, but it does void the warrenty, and will probably feel really unstable in the air.
yea dont put a dual crown on there.

I've seen lots of stuffs with dual crown forks. It's no biggie.
Hell, my friend has been running his stuff with a 66rc for over a year now, and he beats his bike harder then anybody I know.

Dj'ing, DH, FR. Some people just dont like the feel of a fully. A better question would be "why would you keep the reflectors on the pedals?"
The stuff is a hellova bike, they arent known to break.
And it isnt you're money, so why the hell would it matter. There is obviously a market for long travel hardtails, ever hear of the Evil Imperial, or the Banshee Morphine?

Wow...a lot of people don't know much history behind that bike, it is built and warrantied for up to a 150mm fork. JrT fits that range. Go for it, it will definately screw the geometry but I know enough guys riding them like that it doesn't really matter to them, so enjoy. For the price you are getting it for I would do it for ****s and giggles

Different fork and different bike. 20mm rule applies and he can still run a jrt

Hey, that isn't going to work. The only 2 bikes I know of that can support something like that are the Banshee Morphine, and the Soul Cycles Loki.

Your "friend" has a deathwish, putting a fork that has over twice the reccomended travel on a hardrock. The Kona DJ bikes can handle up to 6" forks DC or SC. So it is fine if it wasn't do you think I'd be running a Pike(95-140mm) on my Cowan?

Yes. Marzocchi made a fork called the Super Monster. And Risse makes a 300 mm fork that a dumb freerider uses on his Karpiel.

I say go for it. I have many friends who have DJ frames with a 170mm fork, including myself, and we all love it. I cant stand riding a fully, but I need the travel in the front. It all about what works for you. Id say, put it on, try it for a little while, decide to keep it or not. I dont listen to people ranting about geometry and handling crap. I like the feel and you might also.
