Road Cycling - Looking for a new ride this spring...need advice

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hey guys,
I I have a good friend tht really wants a carbon road bike, its an upgrade from a PoS steel trek 370 that is WAYYYYY dated. He wanted a trek 5200, but was wondering if there is a better deal on a carbon bike out there.
He would like to find a full carbon road bike around the 2000 dollar (US) price range. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated...thanks in advance

Hi,
it might be helpful to know a bit about your friend. What's his height and weight? Is he competitive? Does he plan on touring, time trials,RAAM?

Chasbo,
I spent a lot of time researching new bikes and it seems that the new all carbon Giants are in that price range and pretty popular. I couldn't even get to test ride one as they came in and went out of one of my LBSs so quickly.
I ended up with a Calfee www.calfedesign.com it was more expensive but once I rode one I was hooked!
Check the CF ride that www.supergo.com pedals.

They pedal it or they peddle it? :D
I second the 5200...but I've heard good things about the Giant as well.
I bought a 5200 this year, and I couldn't be more happy. It's truly an awesome scoot. However, your friend should ride the Giant and any other bike that he's considering.
A test ride is worth a thousand posts from us! :D
