My Insight is great bike race car. Fits everything I need for 4 day stage races, it's quick-ish and I get 68mpg.
Sucks if more than one friend wants to go though. It seats 2.

I have this username because I had it spraypainted on my messenger bag, so all of my friends called me that. Let it be known that I do use my girlfriends car to get groceries sometimes and also to get to races. It's also good because I have a dog.

Sucks how much hidden fossil fuel energy we use even when we ride our bikes. Consider the fossil fuel inputs to grow / process / transport food, power your home, make your clothes, bikes / parts, pave the roads, etc. Everything we do is essentially predicated on petroleum. Check my sig re: Peak Oil.

Technically, if it's your gf's car, you're still riding at $0.00/gal right? ;)

If everybody got together on a nationwide boycot of 2 specific companies say Exxon and Mobil and at the same time to reduce as much consumption of gas as much as possible . It would send a big message to them. You should see what Exxon banked as profit.

My guess would be that there would be a run on the supply on the non-boycotted companies, and then they'll just buy ExxonMobil (one company)'s surplus, at a higher price too. Who gets screwed, we do, again. Who do you work for anyways??

What needs to happen is people need to stop driving so damned much. It is not that we don't have oil, it is just that SUV's combined with the evermore lazy American public drive up demand. Think about it: Demand increases about %1.5 percent a year for gasoline. Roughly a year ago, gas hit $2.50. Therefore, right now, gas is $.10 higher a gallon, average. Adding to the fun, right now we are right before a major driving holiday, easter. The fact that we as a nation are willing to pump record smashing profits into the pockets of the oil companies is our own damned fault. Ride a bike, walk, move closer to work, don't drive just for the hell of it, carpool. There are people in this town who live a mile away from campus, who drive into school everyday, then drive around the parking lot for 20 minutes looking for a spot. We don't just have to bend over and take it! When it is broken down to simple supply and demand, the increased prices make sense (albeit the record profits are the sucker-punch). But, I was thinking today, If I were to fill my tank right now it would cost about $40 bucks. That would get me about 300 miles. Think about all of the stuff you can see in 300 miles, all the places you can go. Hell, I bet people spend more than that on lattes in a week.

I've seen it. And they banked it because we'll pay it. Frankly, I feel I get my money's worth of the gasoline I buy at $2.61 a gallon. Doesn't mean I like the increase in price, but I can be pretty darn productive with a gallon of gas.
People should probably note that a rather significant part of the forecasted increase for this summer has to do with a shortage of ethanol. The federal government is regulating the use of MTBE as an octane-boosting additive because it is slightly carcinogenic, which is straining current ethanol production capacity. Also diesel will stay high for the near future as producers prepare for the 2007 diesel emissions regulations.

20 gallon tank? My crown victoria has the same thing, but I probably get worse gas mileage.
