Im totally new to disc brakes, and I now have them on my new cannondale f600 (Avid Disc) Well here is my problem - I was told the outside (red dial) turn it right or left and it puts the disc closer to hub and farther away. It appears that it also adds or reduces the tension of the brake handle. Well, Im not sure what the inside red dial does? On my ride today, my back disc was locking up really easy to the touch of the brake - compared to the front. How do I adjust for this problem. Ive tried a bunch of times, but two things happen. I have a really soft braking, or I tighten it too much and the disc rubs and the wheel doesnt rotate freely? Any advice. thanks

The rear, big dial adjusts the fixed plate. The outside smaller dial adjusts the movable brake pad. Site down the disc opening while squeezing the lever in and out. You should be able to see the gap between the rotor and the pads. You might have the inner plate, (big dial on the inside) too close.
