Getting a $200 ticket on the way to work. New York Pricks and D*cks protecting all those motorists from my "fixed brake" bike. F*n d*ckbags, were laughin writin me a ticket; "You ran three red lights, your lucky I'm only writin you up for one" f*ck off cocktard. I'm surprised I didn' get a summons for not having a bell. Hey Mayor Mike its about time you start writin tickets for jaywalking - eatacackfoo. <end rant>
How am I gonna pay a $200 ticket?
You know the bike cops ride Smith & Wesson bikes? What the sh*t?

Why did you run 3 red lights in front of cops? you're lucky they didn't slap you with all of them like they would have here, as well as taking demerit points off your license. I run red lights and all, but I don't know what kind of situation I could put myself in to burn 3 reds and still have the cops see it all... good luck paying that off!
sorry to hear it dude ... this happen this morning?

Whaaa?? $200 for running a red light on a bike? I've blatently cut cops off in Philly without them so much as blinking at me. Thats crazy.
man, you missed tickets being issued in Central Park the other night. That was a great one.

where did you get the ticket?
i figure that every time i leave the house, i blow on average, a dozen red lights and stop signs. i ride almost every day, but not when it's really nasty out, figure... 340 days a year, and i've been riding in the city for about 8 years now, so that's about 32,640 violations. $200 each - i owe the city of new york a cool $6,528,000.
...plus interest. Cash or credit?

I stop for blue and it hurts

i ride up 6th ave every morning (6th ave and 27th)...i don't barrel through intersections or anything but i'll go through a red light if its quiet or whatever. I didn't pass any cops, but all of a sudden some dude pulls up next to me and tells me to pull over. and boom 150 for the red light and 40 for no brakes, even though i ride a front brake. then after i ran to some dumbass jaywalking my green light.

well I'm sure you can fight the no brakes issue.
--------
And I guess I'm lucky. The other day a cop was behind me, saw me blow through 3 reds, he just sped up to me and yelled through his megaphone.
I am such a stubborn bastard, I kept blowing through reds afterwards but I kept looking behind my back for a sneaky cop. I guess blowing through red lights ahs become second nature, I'm terrible! I always slow, yield, then go through. Unless it's late night or a pretty abandoned roadway which means I don't slow.

the price we must pay for fashion!
PS> the tickets suck, as they always do. Never seem to be fair as far as costs either, considering parking in a Bike lane is a $12 fine...total garbage.

My friend was running a redlight on his bike, because it was about to change green. A car on the other road sped up to make the yellow light. My friend got hit by the car and flew 20 feet, he was knocked unconcious. He was ok, he just got a concussion and his face was really bloody / scratched up. Well, anyways at the hospital the cop gave him a $130 ticket for running the light.

Man that really sucks! Yeah its $200 for running a red in NYC. And you guys that don't live here have no idea, the police actually target us, actually have orders to target us from higher up. It really sucks. Peds never stop for reds which is very dangerous to them and us. Cars blow through the intersection right after the light changes to red. And Shiznaz, there are like forty thousand cops here and Manhattan is not that big, meaning every where you go, there are tons of cops. Everyone here breaks the law, just like no one in LA drives the speed limit, it is just a given. I wouldn't complain if cops ticketed everyone equally and fairly, but they don't. And they aren't at all concerned with public safety, just meeting their quota.

can any ny'ers attest to this? i probably won't go through the hassle, but i seem to remember hearing about all kinds of extraneous bike riding laws/requirements, like having a bell, riding with only one headphone, etc. etc.
So, tell me how your morning was again?
man, that sucks... but how 'bout those smith & wesson bikes? you think they'd make a good conversion?
it was be so much fun to respond to "You ran three red lights, your lucky I'm only writin you up for one" with "Yeah, and you're lucky i don't punch you in he face and make you **** teeth." or something like that. sure you'd get in trouble, but c'mon. good times.

powers2b is killing the audience this morning. just killing them.
My policy is: if you can get away, run. Look around, asses the traffic, figure out which next street you can go the wrong way down. You'll be pumping with adrenaline for the rest of the day. If you can't get away, don't try - it only makes things worse. You better be sure you can get away. Cops are ******fags. And they've also got sirens which can make traffic get out of the way for them. So basically what I'm saying is that this is really bad advice. But I'm just sayin.

i seriously thought about it. but then i thought maybe i could talk my way out of it. and then i saw his Smith & Wesson bike and it was all downhill from there. talking sh*t to the cops doesn't help your cause, and telling him to ticket the ped crossing against the hand, actually hurts it..."oh i notcied you only have one brake, that's another summons."
seriously, Smith & Wesson. When do you think they decided to make the leap from .38's to mountain bikes?
lets just say an ******* cop decided to try and run someone off the road after 7, and when that person gave a lil' tap on the hood after almost getting flattened, the cop got his panties in a twist and issued a summons for not riding in a bike lane.

I got a $231 ticket for a rolling stop at a stop sign, turning right from bike lane to bike lane without ever even entering the intersection.
I wrote a polite letter explaining everything and the judge suspended the fine.
But then, the right judge read my letter.
It could have gone the other way.

smith and wesson is the sticker the bikes are made by giant just like 90% of the frames in the world. Giant makes Trek, Lemond, Fisher, ****ing et cetera...
If you want an Al frmae with Shimano parts buy the giant it is the same thing, wholesale.
