I'm interested in building my own trailer for RAGBRAI this year (bike ride accross Iowa). I see tons of trailers every year and many are pretty cool homebuilt jobs. I want to build a nice trailer that I can house some speakers and an amp and a battery to run them in. I've seen them made out of coolers, old burleys and bobs etc. Anyone have any suggestions or links for me?

Well I be one of the many who carries the tunes.... If your not wanting to spend much money I would say build a home one. Other wise a BOB works well..... For instructions on how to build a cheep home one click here http://www.instructables.com/ex/i/A51076AC08D71029BC4A001143E7E506/?ALLSTEPS This guy has a lot off cool home made projects on there....
Also for the stereo part...
MP3 player or something non skip able
Battery best to have a sealed battery for this, acid everywhere makes for a pain and a hole in your shorts
Speakers.... Make sure you don't mind trashing them and that they are boxed or housed otherwise there is no base, Paper spearks will crap out on you after a rain storm or 2 so try and find chepo synthetic kind. Walmart is great for crap speakers that work for this usse.
If you are making a cooler stereo it's smart to put one port hole on one side and one on another. I used a PVC T intersection to lets air expand and keep water out.
AMP... you will want something around a 80 watt or less other wise you will drain your battery dry.....
Also you will want to carry a trickle charger, you can get this from Walmart for like 20$

Make a long RCA cable so you can keep the mp3 or CD player up by your handle bars. Having to stop to change the music sucks ass or to stop it. Also making a kill switch is a smart idea so you can turn off and on the amp with ease. I also have a Solar Panel trickle charge my battery... But then yer getting into some cost. Last but not least get ready for people tailing you every where... So I like to put a variety of music esp the kind to piss people off. If they follow you for long make them give you beer or just ride slower and slower and then giggle....
Hope to see you on BRAI, If you are a back of the pack rider I shall see ya other wise.....good luck.....

That's a nice looking trailer project.
For those who are better with carpentry skills than welding/brazing, here's another diy trailer project circa 1981:
Anyone know where you can find inexpensive 90 degree and Tee fitting tubing clamps that will work with electrical conduit tubing, in place of welded / brazed joints? I'm guessing these are available for joining conduit but may lack the strength required for a trailer.
Anyone ever build a trailer from PVC?
