Foo - The Ideal Woman for a Cyclist

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sorry, but a search on this topic was unproductive.
As a cyclist about to finish my rookie year who's convinced cycling wiill be a part of my life from now on, and as a single guy, I am, of course, on two simultaneous quests: the ideal bike and the ideal woman. There have been lots of posts and great advice on the right bike for someone like me, but alas, not much specific information on women.
So, I decided to seek directly the experience of those of you who enjoy on-going, committed, loving relationships with your Ideal Woman. I know that I must find someone who enjoys cycling (or at least tolerates mine?) but beyond that, it's all a mystery to me.
Any thoughts you may have regarding this subject would be helpful. While I realize it may be different for different folks, what do you find the best combination of style, value, handling characteristics, eye appeal, maintenance, and such? Is there a budget I should be considering? Anything else I've left off? :D

Gary and Serious do not compute.
Be quite honest and I have been looking for Females to join our riding group- They do Bring a bit of sensibliity to any group, and after a bit of Hinting- They bring the home made cakes along aswell. Now on the suggestion of the two girls with the tandem- forget it- No way will they get far on that stokers saddle. And I dont think either of them have the legs to pull me up the hills.

Not necessarily, but I wrote "as a cyclist AND a single man," so in THIS case, the question is about a male cyclist. One male cyclist. Me.

Let me try and put some sense into your request for information. I am happily married and have the perfect Cycling partner. She regards my cycling as the most important thing in our life- next to the dog- decorating the lounge- me doing the heavy work in the Garden- paying the bills and getting out from under her feet on a regular basis. She understands my need for going out with my mates and tolerates them all coming back after a bike ride and making endless cups of tea or ensuring that there is enough beer in the fridge if it is a hot day. She has a good mechanical knowledge and assists me in repairing the bike by finding all the bits that fall out of the headset when I strip it down- and is not averse to me bringing it into the kitchen on those cold winter nights when It is too cold in the garage. On my long rides she will always be at the end of the phone to act as sag van to pick up the rider that has just splattered himself over the trail- or running the spare wheels out to us or any other part that is required.
Then on top of that- she is a wonderfull cook- and manages to feed me all the right foods when I want them-and my mates aswell (Ever fed 6 riders with hot dogs- Flapjacks- And Cake at 5 minutes notice after the cafe was closed on a long ride and we had not taken enough snacks with us)
I have the perfect riding partner- But get her out with us on a Quick 30 over frozen terrain and below freezing weather- No way. In fact- she would rather polish my spare bike with a toothbrush while I am out riding- instead of coming out on our ride and slowing us down. I have an understanding wife that understands my place in her life- And that is "Do your chores and get out from under my feet." That is a perfect riding partner.
...can create 110 psi in her mouth and fits both presta and shrader valves...

I spent years looking for the perfect woman, and, at long last, I found her. There was only one problem. She was looking for the perfect man.
My wife is intelligent, cultured, artistic, sensitive, beautiful, and a great mother to our two sons, so I guess that makes her a keeper. She used to enjoy bicycling but is terrified of traffic, so I need to focus on taking her out mountain biking or trail/path riding. We do share passions for classical music, hiking, walking, and healthful eating, and I can get my cycling "fix" commuting, going to the store, or getting out early on a weekend morning.

My wife too is a 'traffic pansy'. She feels my aggressive stance on riding in traffic is terrifying, and therefore refuses to ride with me (once a quarter or so I might be able to beg/ guilt her into a ride in the park). This unfortunatley means I have no stoker, and unfulfilled tandem dreams. Watch out, but good luck.

Blind fold for the stoker works and a Gag. The gag is perhaps not necessary as the screaming will tell you how fast you are going downhill.

How to get a woman like this:
1) You must be lucky
2) Transport her luggage (did you already buy a trailer, Dee Gee?)
3) You must be lucky
4) At least 4 star hotels
5) You must be lucky
6) Stop at shadowy places with flowers
7) You must be lucky

I know Gary is probably thinking in terms of a woman who is a bicyclist, but if he was dating Brigitte Bardot, could she ride a motorcycle?
If a cycles are not that important in selecting a female friend; try starting with women who look like this and have good personalities:

As this group has absolutely NO class, we need a LOT of class, not a little.

Gary did start out with a serious question. Seems the answer applies to both genders. We seek out the perfect mate, we want to do a multiplitude of things together. I am somewhat pleased, having just bought my wife a bike for her birthday last week.
So, believe it or not. Most of the time, I would rather ride with her over a pack of others. Recreational riding hopefully will be both our thing.
So the answer to Gary's question. Both equally adapted to each's riding style so that their interests co-incide enough that . a. might want to take like vacations together. such as bike trips. When you ride together during week's time, your style allows you to be bike mates.
and finally, your wife's interest in the same hobby allows tolerance for all the bike art about the house and 4-6 bikes hanging off hooks in the garage.

SunLike, glad you're a girl and glad you are posting. This is a very safe bunch despite their gray-haired, chest thumping gorilla-like behavior. Keep in mind, EMPTY barrels make the most noise!
Most of us are devoted fathers, lap-dog husbands (;) ), one man-of-the-cloth, teachers, etc....including, embarassed to say, one ex-con with a taste for inflatable women--but he's largely harmless.
And, sometimes, we even have bike content threads.
So do join in one of our more intelligent threads...although, personally, I'm enjoying Rita Hayworth photos and would enjoy pumping her on my handlebars......[Big Paulie...you're a terrible influence on me!]

Let's face it. Big Paulie is a terrible influence. Funny, of course. But a terrible influence. He would have been the kid who got us to put a cherry bomb in the chief of police's home mailbox (true story, but that's another thread) while standing there looking completely innocent. A little like Eddie Haskel on Leave It to Beaver. :D
The ideal woman could either be someone who shares your love of cycling, or else someone who has interests of her own and enjoys spending time apart as well as together.

Sunlike,
This is why I started the parallel thread, "What's The Ideal Man For A Woman Cyclist?" I wanted the women who read this forum to voice their opinon on a similar subject.
I think we've pretty much run all the women outta here by now.

04-14-06, 01:16 PM
Personally, I claim to already have found the ideal female for a cycling guy. When I took up cycling in 1982, my wife quickly decided that she was going to ride too. I thought, ok, this will last 3 weeks and cost me a new bike, shoes, clothes, etc. that probably won't get used again. Now, 24 years later, she's not only still riding but bought new cables and housing for our tandem today. Of course, she also came home with three new jersies for herself. :)
Over the last 24 years, she's gone through 5 road bikes, been a Cat. 3 racer, a USCF official and a USPRO official. Her latest steed is a Trek 5200 and wouldn't deny me a new bike if I needed it. I do wish I could get her to quit calling my recumbent a "fruit bike", though. :D

Classic looks are timeless. But for those who prefer the latest trends, young stuff and/or kinky (but tasteful) - Here are some suggestions:

Whoa. Almost as hot as the girl i was chasing around Memorial Park this morning :p
She goes to work by bike, 28 miles round trip all year round, even in snow and ice 'cause she like studs. It keeps her in shape, and keeps her going to work, which keeps a nice paycheck coming, which she then turns over to various and sundry bike shops. She has a whole slew of bikes, all steel except one, from a 1953 JC Higgins to a 2005 custom Luna, and pretty much everything in between except a track and cross bike, but those will undoubtedly make their way into her basement sooner rather than later. She raced both road and MTB, but was never any good, but she doesn't care anymore. She sometimes race busses in downtown DC for fun.
She doesn't have a good repair stand, but she does have a pedal wrench.
And she has much nicer legs than that chick trying to ride the Gios--I mean, the Gios chick has her own saddle bags (and I don't mean panniers) and no muscles whatsoever. If you like that, well, I think you're on the wrong forum!
Oh, and sorry, guys, I'm spoken for.;)
