I am new to riding and am looking for a helmet for around $50. I will be doing some commuting and not offroad. Where are some good places online to order from and what are some good helmets to look at in this price range?

Ditto, Bell Citi. Great, functional helmet for a decent price. It's what I ride with. It's nice to be able to dial the size with one hand with the helmet on your head, for when you ride with balaclava or whatever in the winter.

If you are commuting, the Bell Citi is the better choice, IMO - no jagged edges to hang up on something if you have to use the helmet for its intended purpose (crashing/falling), cheaper, has a visor, which comes in handy in the rain, less expensive.

I'm on my third Alchera. Love it. I think it's significantly better-ventilated than the Citi, which will make a difference if you're in a hot place; the Citi's also about an ounce heavier. Both use the same fit system, I think. If you want a visor, I'm pretty sure the Bell Influx is the same helmet as the Alchera in a "mountain bike" version, which in this case just means "plus visor" - and nashbar's got last year's Influx for $35.
