I love Frazz. He reminds me of a grown-up Calvin, from Calvin & Hobbs. Well, not exactly grown-up, but a little older. Also, Calvin's dad rode a bike, but I think he was more of a commuter cyclist, while Frazz is a roadie. And the drawing style is a little similar too.

I used to think Frazz was drawn by the same artist who did Calvin & Hobbs, using a pseudonym. Then I found out that not only is Jeff Mallet a real person--he lives right here in my hometown! Not to brag or anything. :) I think his number is in the phone book, but so far I've been too polite to try calling him.

I especially enjoy the ones that only have dialogue in the last panel, the rest is someone telling a story or whatever, but with no words. The artist is good enough that you can tell what's happening without needing the words. Plus Frazz is a smart and hip guy, and works as a school janitor. That's neat.

I like the compassion too. Even unsympathetic characters like the older female teacher (I can't remember her name)--there's something touching and likeable even about her. He can poke fun at somebody without hurting them, and that's a pretty rare quality.
