Well, after waiting a week I sent out an email to the upgrade official today.
Instead of using the USCF form to fill in my resume, I took the time to make a nice looking resume in MS Word and sent it to the official. My request was approved 5 hours after sending that email. The official also called my club's President, which probably helped.
So a few hints for others looking to upgrade early:
1. Make a nice looking resume
2. Be on good terms with your club Prez :)
3. Race good :D
