Anyone done the cycling adventure Northern Tier route? I am planning on doing this route next spring (May 2007) and am wondering how long it has taken for people to complete. It is roughly 4,500 miles through the northern portion of the US and through parts of Canada. Anyone have any clues or hints, let me know. I was thinking of giving myself 60 days, one way. Somehow I'm starting to think 90 might be more accurate.

Hi,
I picked up the Northern Tier route, eastbound at Glacier Park last summer. Was on the Lewis and Clark prior to that.
I cut off some milage taking the ferry across Lake Michigan and going through Ontario, Canada to Niagra Falls, Ended at Bar Harbor, Maine.
Took 52 days coast to coast.

I rode the Northern Tier route from the start in Anacortes, WA back home to Michigan. We took the short cut across the lake via the Ferry from Manitowac. Riding through Glacier National Park was my favorite part of the trip. Its a beautiful park, take a day off from riding and go for a hike. If you head out in the early summer you'll run into lots of people also riding the route. Its fairly popular and you'll meet some fun people. The best clues and hints will come from folks riding in the opposite direction. They have the best information on what you'll encounter in the next few days.
