so, i just bought some riser bars i flipped upside down. i need to chop about an inch off each end, but it's rideable as it is. i just don't want it to stay that way. i also have some pink bmx grips. i had a hell of a time getting the one grip that was on the bar off. i eventually just tore it to shreds. anyhow...any tips for getting this pair off when i find a hacksaw? i don't want to rip up the nice pink grips.

spray some wd40, or even just water under the grip.

get a skinny screwdriver and carefully pry it into one end and spray some water into it... you might need to move the screwdriver around a bit, but the water should get around and release it.

windex is incredibly good for getting grips on and off.

I ride BMX, and have been doing this forever- rubbing alcohol- Evaporates really quick. Good for putting grips on and off.

Soak 'em in warm soapy water...They'll slip right off.

use an air compressor with a small skinny needle and shoot it up under the grip....it puffs off

Hairspray works too (but not for the ozone).

cool...looks like there are a bunch of ways, none too difficult. heh, i looked like a ****** sitting there in the shop for five minutes, using a screwdriver to rip a grip to shreds in order to get it off.

anyway, thanks all.

warm soapy watter is usually what i use to get them off hairspray is what i use to get them back on (only thing i find its good for) it takes a couple hours to dry them in place compleatly so just leave it over night or something and then its all good

I use air pressure/rubbing alcohol to get any grips on/off

Get to LBS or gas station which will let you use their air compressor. Blow the air at the edge between the grip and the bar. Off it goes.

get a skinny screwdriver
If you use chopsticks instead it will not scratch up your bars as badly.
