Recreational & Family - Modify Shoulder Straps on Old Burley D'Lite

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I picked up an older Burley D'Lite child trailer a while back. The shoulder straps are secured to the sides of the trailer. With one small child in the trailer I don't think the shoulder straps do a good job of holding the child. I noticed that on the newer Burley D'Lite trailers, the shoulder straps are secured from above and go straight down to the "Y" buckle, much like a car seat. I'm thinking of modifying the shoulder straps in this manner. Has anyone tried this?

I got a hold of Burley and they said I could order a new seat. I have another question about that, but will start another thread.....
