Hey,

Why isn't there a MTB racing forum on this site? Would anyone else be interested in hitting up Joe Gardner for a little representation?

Hey Hawk,

Congrats on your new Forum. Ask an ye shall receive. Must be the season of giving affecting Joe.

I'm not much of a racer. I've done it a couple of times, had fun, but don't have the time and money to be as dedicated in order to be competitive. Not to mention, around here you have to travel so far to get to races. The closest is about 1.5 hours away, and the furthest is over 5 hours. Every other weekend. That's a serious commitment! That and I hate not winning. So, I just ride for fun.

I usually race once or twice a year, but that's about it.

There is an upcoming 12 hour race in February that I'm seriously contemplating. Tinker Juarez came down last year, and he's expected to attend to race "solo". Also, Gary Fisher is rumored to come also. I've been asked to join a team, but we'll have to wait and see!

Well I did not vote on this one but it is about time we get a spot on the forum.
Hey Joe, why not segrigate it even more. Set up a DH, a freeride and a xc racing forum. JK:p
This is a good idea.

Cyclenut,

You should definately take advantage of that opportunity! I think it would be awesome to be on a team and race an event like that... It would be a very unique experience. I'm not good enough yet for anyone to want me on their team though...

I've only been in 1 race so far. But, I'm planning on a lot more this season. It's fun! But, it's also different! It changes your motivation for riding and takes a lot of the sponteneity out of just riding the trails. All things in moderation I suppose...

yea, I ride long distance on the road simply to prepare my body for the punishment of the race.
