Rear hub: Shimano Nexus Inter-8 8-speed internal SG-8R20
Rear rim: Mavic Open 4CD
Number of spokes: 36
Cross: 3

Spocalc says I need
284.0mm (left) and 283.5mm (right)

The online-shop I am buying them from has only either 283mm OR 285mm.

Which one should I buy?

Appreciate any help given.
Thanks!

Either would be fine. 1 mm is a tiny amount

Conventional wisdom says to round down when using SpoCalc. So, the 283 is perfect for the 283.5, and, being only 1mm off, it will work fine for the 284. A wee bit short is fine for spokes, but, depending on your rims, a wee bit long can be a problem if the spokes protrude through the nipples. I have almost always found that SpoCalc gives spoke lengths that end up just about 1mm short of the nipple top face when the wheel is finished. Another mm short is not going to cause a problem.
