Road Cycling - windy city?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I never really figured that a desert would have such strong windstorms but behold today..... max 45 mph but it probably averaged 25 mph... (it was enough to almost knock me off the bike a few times  )
so guess who decides to go ride some of the most difficult hills in the valley.... anyhow I got out to do about 52 miles today and it was a decent ride, but sheesh el niņo could lay off the wind for a while...

??? What?? You've never been in a desert before???
How about those afternoons in the summer in LV, when the temp is 110 degrees F, and the wind off the desert is 30 mph?
If there are 2 things I remember about the western deserts, they are:
1) heat
2) wind

when you cycle you seem to become more aware & atuned to the weather pattens, when the wind helps me home across our harbour bridge i know that it will probaly rain the next day !
