View Full Version : New T-shirt idea.
ignominious

In the face of rising gas costs I'm thinking of making a T-shirt that has "Today's Gas Price" printed on it and some velcro patches so I can put numbers on it.
Or would that be too smug?
I'm thinking yeah, a little sanctimonious. Definitely smug.
Don't get me wrong, I'm in your corner. I just wouldn't want to see you maimed by someone who was a little to close to the edge and jealous of your freedom.

Be sure to leave space for an extra digit in the price.

Even cooler would be a thin digital display that shows the price slowly, steadily rising.

I've considered doing a stencil on one of mine that says "doesn't notice gas prices."

I like it! Get an extra one made, and I'll buy one.

I had an idea a while back in which I listed a bunch of car related costs (for example, Annual Car Insurance - $700) then I had something to the effect of "Cruising Through Gridlock at 30 Kph - Priceless") and then having a basic pic of a bike below with the wheels the same color as the circles on a Visa card... heck, I think I feel like try creating the graphics for that right now!

Okay, I have gone ahead and given it a whack and attached the file. Let me know what you folks think of a zis. I eliminated some of the text I was going to have because I felt that, on the whole, the additional text detracted from the overall look and effect.
It may need a bit of tweaking, depending on the feedback I get. Personally, I feel it turned out pretty darned good for about fourty five minutes of work, but then, I made it, so my opinion may be slightly biased.
EDIT: I added one other version, with a few less "speed" lines on the vertical framework of the bike. I think it may look a little bit better. Do you think that maybe even a few less "speed" lines on the handlebars would be an improvement?
EDIT: Replaced the pics with the new version, taking into account chephy's suggestion.
Leave 30 km/h out of it... Cagers consider this SLOW!

Yeah, but when they're going like... ZERO... Maybe I should employ some use of the infinity symbol or something... it could read like: "Cruising through gridlocked traffic infinitely faster than the cagers"... No, wait, I see what you are saying. YES! It would work better without it. Heh heh. Just had to stop and think about it for a moment.
BTW, to the OP, let us see if you get anything started as far as your gas price shirt goes, especially if you go digital. (Interestingly enough, digital clothing does exist. I've seen stuff about it on Discovery Channel. Some of it uses thread that changes color with temperature, and then uses electronic circuits to control the effect.)
Edit: Look at my previous post to see my updated graphic.

I like it!
Though the only time theres gridlock here in my rural town is when there is a high school football event or the new Amercian indoor football league!

I don't encounter gridlocks too often either. In fact, I can't say that I've encountered any in a car, let alone my bike. Closest thing to it in my little town is when there's a big basket ball game at school and the cars are parked everywhere (on the streets...), or a funeral procession (which there is no glory going faster than one of these). But hey, it's the thought of superiority that counts!

Pretty neat.
We are into reforestation, I have felt like having a t-shirt like "You are breathing my air", perhaps one that says "You are using my fossil fuel, don't waste oil on something your legs can do."
After all, it is used for medicine and many, many other things that are much more important than something we can do ourselves.

As Nelson Munz would say, "HA HA!"

I encounter gridlock every day from and to work.
Anywho, you ought to wear these shirts to your local CM ride. Smug shirt for a smug ride!
I think something like "Would it kill you to brake?" and some kind of broken helmet under it. On the back of a shirt.
But perhaps that would antagonise some drivers who might otherwise have braked...

Or, they might be thinking about your T-shirt and forget to brake...

How about a picture of a "Share the Road" sign with a big red "MY TURN" in spray-painted text over it?
Certainly should appeal to the VC crowd.
