Finally have the route for my self contained tour mapped out. Using free and purchsed hard copy maps, and the Iowa DOT's website I was able to accomplish this. The Ia DOT's website allows people to down load maps in either PDF format, (you need Adobe Acrobat reader) or DWG format, (you need AutoCAD), for free. You can download both county and city maps, (city maps are available in PDF format only).
The route I am taking is the Loess Hills Scenic Byway. Go to google.com and run a search.
I am going on the tour the first week of August. It will be only 4 to 5 days long at the most. I'll be leaving Sioux City, Iowa Saturday August 2nd.
Though I plan on riding it solo, anyone is welcome to join me.
I'll scan my route maps in and post a link to them later. And/or post them here.
