Im thinking about selling my bike to my dad here pretty soon. Im just curious what a good deal would be. Its a 02 rockhopper a1 comp and pretty much stock components. Im going to get a new chain and cassette on the bike and make sure there are no cracks in it etc... Ive seen my bike going for around 400 on ebay and on mtbr there were people who claimed to have bought it 3 months ago for around $600. Would $300-350 be a good deal? What do you guys think?

i'd say $350 is good and solid, but since it's your paps make it $300 and see if you can working something else out in return for giving him a deal:D

Can you post a picture of the actual bike?

If not, $300 sounds pretty fair. You realize though, that your father has given you a lot over the years. If you can swing it, give it to him. You'll be rewarded 100x's more than $300 over time!

I dont have a picture, but the bike is in great shape. Ive only rode it since late may. Im going inspect the bike very closely for cracks and damage and depending on what I find Ill replace whatever necessary. Thing is, my dad probably wont be ridding much off road, or if he does it wont be on anything too rough. I mean the only thing that really needs to be replaced is the cassette and the chain which are worn, but everything else is fine, at least for the riding he will be doing which wont even be that often.

What do you guys think I should do for making sure there are no cracks. Would doing a thorough inspection of the bike myself be adeqaute? I just want to make absolutely sure Im giving him or whoever I sell it to a good product. Anything you can do to make cracks more visible...?
