Bicycle Mechanics - Buying new wheels

I'm a bike upgrade noobie, but I need to get a couple new road bike wheels for my commuter soon. I was hoping to get something in the 105/Ultegra-hub/Mavic-rim range for $200 or so from either a local retailer or online.

I'd also like the wheels to be black and maybe aero... For some vanity, but also resale reasons. I'd prefer function over looks though if I can't have both. So, two questions:

First, are Coda hubs or Sun ME14A rims any good? I've got my component hierarchy figured for Shimano, but I'm having problems with the other brands.

Second, I saw a Easton set at http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=131&subcategory=1197&brand=&sku=15737&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename but I'm not sure how these wheels compare to say - Shimano 105 hubs and Mavic open pro rims. Are these Easton wheels any good? (I'm using a Shimano 8 speed cassette)

Should I just play it safe and pick up a couple 105 hub and Mavic rim wheels, or are there better options for me than that?

I think you could get a nice looking, very reliable CPX22 on 105 hubs, for a reasonable price. And I think you could get all black, which would look pretty sharp.

But I have to ask: Resale? Is there some big market for used commuter wheels?

Sorry, I was talking about when I sell the whole bike, not just the wheels. I don't think it'll increase the resale price over a non-areo rim, but I'd imagine overall looks'll make it easier to sell to the average buyer looking for a used bike.

Depends on when you sell it. If you flip it in ten years, the mavic/shimano wheels will still probably be good. THe same probably can't be said for most boutique wheels. If you flip it next year, boutique wheels may be in decent shape still.

Resale value should be the least of your worries. Seriously. Your average buyer probably won't know the difference between a good and a bad wheelset anyways. And those that do will probably pass your wheelset up because it's used unless you'r selling it for ridiculously cheap.

Bottom line: get the wheelset you need and don't worry about the resale.
