Just curious. If you saw a black round device about 2.5" diameter with multiple wires, what would you think it was?

I ask because well...
A few days ago, I brought a stepper motor to school for a project. In my latin class, a girl screams right next to me.
I am shocked, Have no idea what. ANd she says I have a bomb in my backpack.
I have to assure the teacher that the shaft of the motor is not some button to explode it.

Then 2 days later, I was talking to english teacher of last year. Somehow in the conversation, he asks if I make bombs in my basement.
Awkward situation...

I would think it was a piece of electronic or audio equipment, possibly a small electric motor. But then again, I dont watch cable news so I'm probably less paranoid than most people in the US.

That was one of the most plain awkward situations I have been in. I hope I dont come across as a crazy kid who makes bombs in his basement...

I would have made a smartassed comment like "no, that's the element for the giant laser satellite I am about to put into orbit, which will allow me to RULE THE WORLD Muhahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa"

They would probably put me in an asylum though for making a comment like that.

You're bluffing, go ahead and turn something slowly. "Go ahead, make my day" :)

You don't come across as a crazy kid who sees a bomb in every unfamiliar object that looks as if it might have something to do with electricity; or as a crazy English teacher who bought into what sounds like a small epidemic of hysteria.

It's merely part of the new zero tolerance policy toward geeky science whiz kids.

A toroidal transformer. Electric detonators are normally copper or aluminum and vaguely cigarette sized, not black, and have just two wires with the bare ends wrapped with conductive material.

An HVAC component.

Also, I would have just slapped her and ridiculed her, degrading her untill she was in tears for accusing me for something like that.
