Hey All,

I'm thinking of picking up a chain tensioner. I'm curious if others find these helpful in snugging a wheel back in place or are they purely to prevent the wheel from sliding forward? I ride street commuting and leisure, sans brakes- mostly just back and fourth (JRA)- no racing

Also has anyone added a tensioner to a Bianchi Pista? I have an 05 and I'm looking at either spot, surly or those bargain Redlines from Dans Comp ($9 Y'all!)

They're helpful for getting your chaintension juuuuust right without having to try a few times. And they look neat and prevent slipping. But mostly just good for getting proper tension.

Snugging the wheel back in place = preventing the wheel from sliding forward.

That said, it does both amazingly.
And yes, they fit Pistas no problems - at least the MKS ones do and I'm sure all the others do as well.

On my Pista, with Record hubs, the tensioner (cheap-ass star thing) took away too many threads from the nut for my own personal comfort. Make sure you have enough axle, maybe 3-4mm to spare.

Did that make sense?
