Classic & Vintage - My first road bike.

I'm a long time mountain biker that one day thought a road bike sounded like a good idea. After some research, I quickly realized I wanted a lugged steel bike. There is something so elegant about them.

I ended up with a early '90s De Rosa Nuovo Classico with Record 8. I know it's not really "classic" and not particularly collectible (I don't think) but I think it's a nice looking bike.

It's in pretty good shape but has some usage scrapes here and there. I'm not sure what my plans are for it. I'll probably just ride it and replace what needs to be replaced. I may get it repainted at some point if I can locate some new stickers for it.

Also, the seat post is raised to the max line and I still need another cm or two. I think it's a Record post. Did they make longer versions?

SUprised no one has chimed in. Your bike is nicer than all of my bikes and I have 6 or more bikes/frames. If you need more height the bike is probably a touch on the small side and a bike forums member would probably be happy to take it off your hands. Again, beautiful bike and totally collectable, if not as much now it will be in years to come. I say just touch up the nicks with some automotive touch up paint (not spray just the little bottle with brush) and enjoy! the paint looks pretty good to me.

Yeah the bike is in pretty good condition. Aside from the couple of paint chips it looks good and works well.

I guess I'd just like to have it in perfect condition. I could have bought a new bike but I wanted a nice lugged steel frame and De Rosas have always appealed to me so I went for it. I'll probably ride it for a while to make sure I'm happy with it before I decide whether or not to get it refinished.

It may be slightly small for me but the Record post really short. I think another cm or two of post would be ok. The top tube length feels good. I do think I need to drop the stem a bit but I want to get a seat post that works for me first.

that is a C-Record post and I think that they made a long version, although they are right rare. You might find a Ritchey or and American Classic for mountain bikes to get some extra loft. Just don't forget where you put the original post! It is worth quite a bit...

If that seat post is raised as high as you say, it is dangerous to ride that bike at all. You are courting Hincapie type disaster. Please don't ride that bike anymore. Box it up and send it to 711 S. Wilson Pl, Cushing, Oklahoma and I will send you one hundred dollars cash or check. It is better to be safe than sorry. If I just save one life, it is worth it!
