Does anyone know who makes the fenders that come on the new Trek Portland and where to buy them seperatly?

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before. Have you done a search?

Could all these folks asking about the 'Portland' fenders really be Trek executives attempting to sway people's opinion on the Portland's fender?

As silly as that seems on the surface...one has to wonder. Not only has this already been discussed, that question appeared almost identical to me.
But, we'll put aside the conspiracy theory for a moment, and say this: Those fenders look worthless. I haven't tried them, so take my opinion with a grain of salt...but that's just how they look.

Trek doesn't sell them so no reason to promote them.
Okay, add to the conspiracy theory...
SuperSport's only two posts are about these fenders. Maybe he's just a curious buyer. But maybe...

First find a Portland owner, then wait for a rain. After that, they'll probably give them to you.

No reason for a trek employee to promote them. But SOMEONE makes them, and that someone would benefit financially if they 'caught' on with a commuting crowd.
I LOVE conspiracy theories :)

hope it doenst rain fender seems about right. especially for the front fender. there is nothing covering the top of the wheel! It took one time riding in the rain with just the front rear covered, nothing like this huge fountain stream of water flying off the top of the tire - right into my face.

Am a Portland-owner to-be. The rear fender seems like it can do the job. I am very doubtful about the front fender. Not to mention the fact that the front fender -- though on a bike that was too small for me -- hit me in the toes a couple of times while riding. Am waiting for my first ride in the rain and will report.

FWIW, the front and rear fenders are exactly the same.
If your toes hit the one in front, it just flexes downward.
